My son is at geek university and has the friends group 3D printer in his room. So, to get to grips with it he has made me some things.
A key fob and a featherweight shock tower cap which replaces the rubber. If it fits it is a fun weight saving  8)
Next will be the wing supports but he will scan one when back at the farm.

Very impressive, I like the key fob especially!

Could he do a gear knob or gear stick cage supports?!

Petrus

The fob I will paint and then sand the emblem.

Don´t know what the possibilities are yet. We, read hé, will be playing some more with it.

Will report. First try the one strut cap for fit.

There are a fair number of 3d files already on thingaverse for our cars - might see if I can learn to model the MAF riser.

Petrus

Fits; a whopping 6% weight saving; 3 gramms  :))

Btw he prints them from a maïs based semi translucent material which makes the parts lóók as featherlight as they are. It is as close to aerogel as possible.
Maybe not as pretty as many would prefer but Í find the translucent lightweight look übercool.

Petrus

From 34 to 6 gramms  ;D
Times two.
