Following responses about functionality and in the US ´ricer´ in connetion with modifications had a quick look at the various MR2 subjects on several fora where the distinction was easy. The relative ´priority´ (the amount threads):

Appearance:             3

Performance (engine):   6

Handling/ suspension:   1

Power given twice the attention appearance get, which gets three times the attention the handling gets.

Mind; no opion here; just an observation born from curiousity.

Personally

Appearance 0

Power 7

Handling 3

Mainly because looks don't bother me and adding power is more quantifiable than making a car handle better.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I always find the first question that gets asked on any forum about cars with a sporting potential, is "what size wheels/tyres can I fit"!

A tricky one that, as it ís a handling issue but just about exclusively asked as an appearance priority ;-)
Even lowering is more often about the looks of the wheel arch opening than about the COG. Hence the logically much stiffer lowering springs often not fitted with matching shocks.

It is the way it is and it should imo be noted that within road legal driving behaviour, the appearance is the most so. Road legal that is ;-)

Looks carry great weight for me, but kilos more and those automatically affect performance ;-)

Then there is the elephant in the room; budget. It is hardly ever the subject though it nearly always is an crucial factor. It imo is a factor adding weight towards appearance as those mods shów where the money went.

Well, it is about taste.
You can bet on it that it will get way worse when F1 goes to larger rims, lower section rubber.

I'm going to spend even more money on my car to make it go as fast as I can but leave it looking like pooh just to prove a point.

Scotts variation is a something that goes like a greyhound with some wasabi up its backside.

So glad I'm not young anymore.

All these kids with tik tok and Instagram totally absorbed I'm how they look and are perceived.

What about a few hundred $ for taking the rear seat out?

Thankfully I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be legal here.

Ah the ´somehow´ ;-)

In real life I have seen a Messerschmidt KR200 with luggage trailer and a Porsche 911 with caravan.

Too small for anyone to notice I think; a personal joke.

Ardent

@Petrus

Have you got a complete list of all the things you have removed?

I might use that to start the basis of developing some "delete kits" the kits will be fabricated from the same material as the emperors new clothes. Call it a flat rate of £100 per kit.

As a loss leader, I will even do hard top delete kits for free.
