Right, penetrating oil...

Does the daiper need removing to do this?  s:? :? s:?   The heatshield needs removing first? So I need an O2 sensor socket? Then it's just the bolts on the manifold, right? Blimey, I am such a numpty.  s:oops:  s:oops:

you can remove the manifold first if you want but you dont need to remove the sensors, just disconect the wireing from the connectors furthur up the line and pass em thru the holes  s:wink:  s:wink:

Sorry, I don't want to seem cheeky either, but is there any chance I might be able to grab an early-ish slot too?

The girl friend reminded me yesterday that we're going to see Jimmy Car on that saturday night  s8) 8) s8)  and I may aswell not turn up if I'm going to be late. Apparantly!  s:oops:  s:oops:    s:lol:  s:lol:

It wouldn't have to be done uber early as he's not on until 8pm (probably wouldn't have to leave til 5 ish), it would just be nice to get it done and then maybe I could help out, or something!  s:lol:  s:lol:

Perhaps the 'slots' could be determined upon geography – those with furthest to travel get the earliest slots? Mark?

Mark

Any requirements for ramps / trolley jack, or is it all done from the top?

at least one 02 needs removing in order to remove the heatshield. the heatshield needs removing before the manifold can be removed.

you're right, looks like you should be able to and its close, but they just dont quite make it over with the angle of the O2 sensors, oh well  s:? :? s:?

This may sound silly but could I use WD40 for the studs?  If not then could someone point me in the right direction as to what I need to buy for this gutting event?  I already have an O2 sensor removal socket.

Mark, I've read that others are bringing booze, would you like me to bring some food or wine or anything?

Thanks for organising this and for the kind use of your garage, very much appreciated.

This will also be my first meet so it'll be great to finally meet some people from here!   s:D :D s:D

markiii

#93
beer or wine will be fine thanks  :-) :-) :-)

wd40 doesn't help much in thsi instance, you need proper penetrating oil spray, Halfords or any local motorfactor should stock it.

I just was just looking through this thread when I realised I own the sound meter that Sean had borrowed to measure exhaust sound levels (I used mine to set the speaker levels for my hi-fi/home cinema)!

I was wondering - would any one be interested if I bought it along - we could measure the sound difference before and after decatting and add to the list of exhaust volumes for some different setups...  s:?: :?: s:?:

sounds liek a plan

Yes very interested.

My current set-up (see below) is obviously "noisier" than stock, so a reading pre and post gut would be very interesting   s8) 8) s8)
