Does anyone else find that when you first put your air con on it smells a bit 'dusty' to start with.. and then is fine.   s:lol:  s:lol:

I'm sure i've heard you can get the cylinders changed or something along those lines?

Its a 2000 (W) UK and I've got a feeling the previous owner who had it for 9 months didnt use the air con at all   s:? :? s:?

Any idea's???

Those sanitizers are supposed to be pretty good, just stick it in the car, set the air to recirc and leave it running for a while, easy.

Toyota do an air con service for £80, apparently after a couple of years its only 50% effective witouth servicing.

Also, I read that bacteria can grow in hard to reach parts of the air-con which can cause bad smells and be quite unhealthy.

Hi Guys,

Can I Suggest a few options:

1. Cromer and Forte do a canister which you let off in your car and run it for 20mins, this kills all the bacteria in the vents, etc. Prices are approx £12.

2. Toyota Dealer are doing the above  - but for £19.99 which isn't bad for a dealer.

3. In addition to the above which helps sanitise the exteria of the system, you can also pay at Toyota £125 to have your system, recharged with Gas. Again a reasonable price.

As for the Canister, I will let you know if it makes any difference, as I'm picking one up tomorrow from my Father at Land Rover (Forte) one. FREE!

I've never had a smell problem, probably because I use my Aircon Everyday, only time it goes off is when the roof is off and it's not boiling hot, otherwise, its always running.

Hope this helps

Cheers
