Adam did try with some Rage seats that I bought of him.  Although they fitted physically in the car the driver couldn't.

I think it turned out in the end that the seats were ideal for someone very small.

Because the roadsters seats have the sliding mechanism built into the side sponge they sit very low.  I think most aftermarket seats are going to be too tall.

The rage seats that I sold had the roadster mounts custom fitted to the aftermarket seats.  There was lots of grinding, driling and welding, it was about 4hs work for a proffesional.

Have just done this on the GT Four.  As with the 'two' the seat frames are very low so any aftermarket frame will have your head bouncing off the roof!   s:lol:  s:lol:

what you need to do is seperate the two halves of the stock runners, they run on bearings between the top and bottom halves, so you need to dig these out with a screw driver and then lever away any bits that stop you sliding the two parts apart.

once apart you will be left with two seperate sides for fixing back to the floor with nothing in between.  I personally bolted two wooden struts across these whilst in situ to hold them square and in their normal positons, and then took them down to the local wleder to have 2" steel bar welded accross front and back in line with the fixing point on your new seats (cost £20 inc scrap steel bar)

once back home you can drill the steel bar where the seat fixing points are and voila you have after market seats at near enough stock height.  The seats I chose came with their own runners, so I still have the sliding option, but i've ripped out the back seats anyway so wasnt really a requirement.

perry, I noticed you didn't menton the bearings, do you still have the stock ones?

Have you seen this thread:

Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

what make of seats are they perry and do they sit higher thn the stock seats?

make not known I'm afraid, got them from a trader on e-bay.  they sit aprox 3/4" higher than stock if you do the runner mod I described.  If you didnt then as with most aftermarket seats they would be a good 2" higher!

on the bearings, yes they have been upgraded as part of the forged rebuild, but the 3SGTE engine from the GT Four is a slightly different kettle of fish than trying to squeeze exra horses from a vvti lump .

The engine is now good to 600bhp, but wont be going past 450 personally

mat post some pics in another thread later if i get the time, way behind at present tho and wont me making JAE as she will be in the spray shiop   s:-( :-( s:-(

ive fitted some aftermarket seats now but find that Im quite a bit higher and my knees are very close to the steerimg wheel.

The runners are the original ones in the original position...how can I drop the seats down onto it lower?

when I had the 2" steel bar welded across, it was welded on the underside of the existing runner base (if that make sense).  I did try it on top of the runner at first but as you say itys way way to high

Yep 3S-GTE   s;-) ;-) s;-)

sorry Tem, yep its a GT four WRC Celica.  I still have the two as my daily runner at present
