Imported in 2007.  103,500 miles (in daily use so mileage will increase).  BUT, in super condition. No rust. The underneath is like a new car.  It has been on the lift and any surface rust removed, treated and painted on an annual basis.  The car never goes out when there's salt on the road.  The rear subframe is rust free and has been internally treated against rust and fully sealed to keep out corrosive road dirt.

The engine is fully reconditioned and has done just over 6,000 reliable miles, so it's just nicely run in.  The engine has had: Pistons with modified oil control holes and new rings.  Honed bores. Reconditioned cylinder head with new valve seals with valve gaps adjusted to factory spec. New timing chain, tensioner and sprockets. New oil and water pumps.  New rod bearings.  New thermostat.  Sump with extra baffle. It was properly and carefully run in after installation.  Uses no fluids.

It has a wrapped Toysports enxhaust manifold, type-approved and wrapped Cats2U catalytic convertor. It aces emmissions testing. I have retained the original back-box as I like a quiet car.

It has had a new radiator and hoses.  It is an AC car but the system has recently developed a leak, I'm afraid.  I suspect it needs a new condenser.

The gearbox is the JDM close ratio 5-speed box with the sportier final drive ratio, which makes the car noticeably quicker through the gears than a Euro model.  It has the optional factory installed Limited Slip Diff, which was not standard on the MR-S, and is very rare.  This is confirmed by the 'B' suffix to the transaxle number on the VIN plate. (None-LSD boxes having an 'A' suffix.).  Filled with Redline MT90 oil, it is a joy to use.  A new clutch was installed with the engine.

It has a Jack Smith fabric roof which has only been used in the summer as the car also has a matching hard-top (value £1200), which has been on every winter.

Suspension has had new KYB struts all round with new springs, gaiters and bump-stops. The front a-arms have been replaced with high quality items.

Brake calipers and discs have been replaced all round with new handbrake cables fitted.

Headlights were replaced some years ago and they polish up very well.

It has the original Toyota tool kit in it's bag.

It has the following special equipment:

TRD Short shifter (value £350). TRD stage2 front bumper (value £800). Genuine Toyota 'Rainbow' fog-lights with correct mountings for the TRD bumper (value £350).  TRD rear spoiler (value £300), TRD front and rear strut braces (value £500).  Autodiverse 'Superbrace', as which is a mid-body underbrace that is simply the most rigid made (value £300).  TRD style front under brace.  The car handles with very high precision and turns in impressively.  Sound deadening materials have been applied to the underside.  It has a JVC double din stereo with blue tooth, which retains programmed stations when the battery is disconnected.  It has a remotely operated battery isolator, with a 100 amp latching relay, which a acts as an extra layer of immoblisation. Starter button on dash. Analogue Oil Pressure gauge mounted on the dash.  Genuine Toyota mud-flaps front and rear.  Head steady to limit engine rock.  Polyurethane filled engine mounts.  Genuine MR-S floor mats and door cards (no tweeters).  Good condition PFL black leather seats. Additional glove box in place of passenger airbag.  It has a set of the fitted luggage, and the little 'boxing glove' covers for the hardtop side strikers, a hard top cover and stand on wheels.  It has the lovely uncluttered MR-S gauges which have been converted to read in MPH.

The car is insured for an Agreed Value of £5,500 with Adrain Flux.

Paint does have the usual small blemishes but all panels are dead straight and rust free.  It is  not in 'concourse' condition.

The car will come with an exhaustive collection of spare parts including: Drain bags, door seals, driveshafts, as new lower steering u-joint, power steering pump, throttle body, starter motor, Genuine MR-S spare ECU (rocking horse pooh!!), rear toe adjustment bolts, roof latches, frunk bin latches, Denso O2 sensor, specialist Toyota bolts, and even a rebuilt JDM engine if you want it.  The idea is to be able to keep this car on the road for many years to come.

This is a very special little car, that you will find hard to match.  It is a 'keeper' and will only be sold to an enthusiast who will respect it as a whole and not break it for its very valuable collection of special equipment.  Viewing by appointment.  We'll be happy to put the car on our lift so you can inspect the underside.

All records and receipts are present.  Two keys with remote fobs.

MOT until August, but I will put a new MOT on it for the right buyer.

If you add up all the special equipment and spares the value comes to well over £4,000.

Located near Wellingborough, Northants.

Total sale price: £5,500

I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, but I can't believe you're selling it.

And I'm glad you're not selling it for "peanuts". These cars deserve higher prices.

Nooooooooooo :'(   I always remember that roundabout near Wrexham that you let me drive round and round and round it, the handling and grip was fantastic, shall never forget that and I was very privileged to have driven this little car, in a word "AWESOME".

Well - no action on this so far.

So, I'm reducing the price to £4500.

Pistonheads as next port of call?
It's an enthusiast car.

In worst case maybe the Facebook group. Does that still exist?

There are still facebook groups, maybe @The Other Stu can help with this?

They used to do ads on the DC website too.

It does.
A while ago there was a reference to it on here and I joined .
It seems to be an everyday continuing story.
There was also unwanted content that popped up frequently.
I have tried leaving it, not a straight forward process.

@Carolyn  is in most of the groups.

I don't know for definite, but I think she'd rather someone didn't strip it for the good bits, which would inevitably happen on there - for instance, someone is selling the front and rear bumpers right now for £1800.

Ardent

Which sort shows what a bargain this is.

fawtytoo

@Carolyn Unless you're in a rush to sell, I'd put the price back. Based on what @The Other Stu said.

When I tried to sell mine, only one offer of £2000 from someone on eBay. Again, probably just wanted it for parts. That's not gonna happen.

Sadly so, yes. Many errors and regrets along the way,of cars bought I shouldn't have, and cars sold I regret doing ....ah well, onwards and upwards.

Well I took my MR2 to see Carolyn today.  Bit of a trip and an adventure.  I was happy with mine but then I got a bonus.  Carolyn offered for me to have a go in her MRS.  I was impressed.  It all worked well but the real improvements over mine were;
1.  the steering, so sharp and responsive.  Mix of tyres and braces I think
2.  gear shift.  I thought mine was a nice short throw (compared to average manual car) but Carolyn's felt like a gated sports car.

I'll aim to get the steering on mine up to that level eventually, but the short shift may take some finding.

Thanks Carolyn, really enjoyed it.  Sorry if I scared you or the car!!!
