Air Con refill

I've checked the search function (before anyone bites my head off) to no avail.

Can anyone let me know how much they've been charged for A/C refill?

I live in Manchester if anyone knows of anywhere local, that would be good.

Dunno... I was answering the second part of the query. I've been hunting around Manchester for someone to recharge my AZ-3 which has packed up after 10 years of mild use.

One firm quoted 60 quid but refused to do an import. Others are saying price will depend on the amount of charge needed! It seems to be a wet finger in the air job.

BTW Worsley, has yours got progressively worse, or did it go suddenly? Might be worth checking that the system is intact?

Pinkstones toyota in stoke on trent charged me £84 for an aircon service, including recharge, they also say that should be done every 2 years

Thats a good deal. Probably best to go with Mr T rather than an indie garage at those prices.

my car was in the repair shop for three weeks, (some indiot knackered my bumper) and the A/C just stopped working when I got it back. The guy at the garage reckons as it was stood for 2-3 weeks wihout running, the gas just leaks out, but I think I can smell a bull's arse.

I'm trying to get them to do it but I just want to find out where and how much it will cost when they eventually say, "Sorry Guv, not our problem!"

If that was the case then it would never have worked from the factory - the car will have been on various transporters and then a rather long boat journey before getting here!

The refrigerant does contain oils and things that "nourish"/lubricate the seals, bearings, etc; such that if the system is not used for a long time, then leaks can occur. But, AFAIK, that period is much longer than a couple of weeks. That's why most aircon instructions recommend running the system for at least a few minutes each week.
