Does anyone know whether you can extend the 3 year Toyota Warranty after it has expired?  I bought the car 1 month after the original one expired ?

If toyota don't, there are plenty of people willing to take your money off you in place of the security blanket that is a huge amount of get out clauses forming smallprint.

The last one I had cost about £100  for a year and only covered the major parts of the drivetrain, and not for wear-and-tear (that's the _big_ get out clause).  Everything else (bubbling alloys, rusty hubs, tears in the roof, electric window failure etc. etc.) wasn't covered.

Toyota do do extended warraties - there is info on their website under owner services/aftercare/warranty.

It costs about £350 iirc...

Hi All,

I've spoken to toyota about extended warranty, it's an exact copy of your current three year deal.

you can purchase it before the end of the three years, I've been given a figure of £540 for two years extended, which when you consider (can't remember his names) gear box will cost in excess of £1,200 isn't a bad deal.....

seeing I've had about £3,000 worth of warranty work already and intend to keep the car then £540 for two more year of care free stuff seems a pretty good deal.

Thanks, downloaded the warranty application form and noticed it was with AON warranty services.  As long as this isnt like one of those insurance policies it should be ok - it just rang alarm bells with me because we have an extended warrranty with AON on our hotpoint washer/dryer and they have been useless when we have had problems  s:!: :!: s:!:
I imagine as long as Toyota dealers are looking after the car under the warranty it should be ok ..  s:) :) s:)

s:lol:  s:lol:  Have a look at a few of the warranty problems in the Maintenance section.  Mr T seem no better than anyone else, denying problems, or failing to resolve them.

That said the small experiance I've had (once, to replace the suspension top-mounts), took one day and was corrected with very little persusion.

My current client (EDS) are doing a major IT upgrade for AON at the moment, and let's just say it hasn't been too smooth... if you take it, pray you don't have to claim!   s:wink:  s:wink:

Sorry to bump up this old thread, but does anyone know the answer to the original question?

If not do you think the local Mr T will know? (30seconds away from my office so easy enough to go down there)

Thanks in advance...

I've had a look there and it doesn't seem to be explicit either way - I guess I'll have take a wander to the dealership tomorrow and see if they can be any help...

Hi,

Yes you can extend your warranty, cars under 7 years and then cars over 7 years.

so you should have no problem, dosent really matter that you where one month out.

The dealer said you can extend your warranty at anytime before you car is 7 years old (so you could extend it for a year when it's 6.75 years old).

He also said that they wouldn't need to check the car before you extended the warranty but that you should get any major concerns checked out before you extend.
