Couple of questions:   s:?: :?: s:?:

1. Anyone got these (always someone selling them). What are the like?
2. Does MR T sell anything similar?

I would love blue one and painted calipers - opinions?

Cheers.

Yes Mr T does sell MR2 ones, I think Heath has them on his car.

Bit overpriced if you ask me from Mr T as they will only get nicked by some little kid at the end of the day!

I lent my MR2 to a friend who very kindly returned it with 4 chrome valve caps. Nice, I thought.

However, after a couple of months I went to check the tyre pressures one day and they had welded to the valve.   s:shock:  s:shock:  The '2's effective braking system and open wheels mean that a lot of heat gets generated which can weld the caps on the valves. It cost £46 to have the wheels stripped, new valves put in and everythin put back and balanced.

If you do do it just check regularly that they are still free   s:D :D s:D

Important safety tip thanks Dave!

At least no little $£%& will be able to rop them.

I had my valve caps nicked off my last set of alloy wheels..I know one of my friends had his nicked also.  IMO its money down the drain for what is essentially a pretty imperceptible mod. But its your money your choice..

Does anyone have the part number as Mr T lost one of mine, then said that they didn't do them anymore.

Or does anyone have a spare (or 3) that I could buy from you?

Yep, I had 1 1/2 sets nicked off my old car.  s:evil:  s:evil:  And the second set were so-called locking ones. So I've got lovely black plastic ones now.

A tip when buying metal ones (apart from wiring them up to the battery  s:twisted:  s:twisted:  ) – make sure they have plastic screw threads. That way they won't fuse to the valve stems.  s:wink:  s:wink:

I saw some shifty little kid checking out my car as I pulled into an open car-park a while back... guess what he was checking for!

I get back to the car about half an hour later, and he offers me a fist-full of alloy valve caps!! The kid had pockets full of them.

He also seemed to think that a set of 4 Lotus ones would look nice..   s:roll:  s:roll:

Hope you gave him a clip round the ear or a swift brick in the mouth.

@ Noddy - that looks like a plan to me - anyone done it in green/blue?

I read that valve caps were being nicked but after getting some on Sat, I had one taken on Sunday and then another yesterday.

I don't know why I bothered.  They were only £2 for the set so the little scrote can have the other 2 if he wants plus a clip round the ear for good measure.

I have the ones off of ebay as in the first post - none stolen yet, car is parked inside a fortress at work at the moment and on the drive at night, I did manage to lose one when pumping up the air in the tyres and it bounced off somewhere never to be seen again...bought another set so now I have 3 spares!! I like Glens idea though of painting plain metal ones a good cheap alternative!

I think Richbrook (if thats what their called) do the security ones, they have a little screw and allen key and you tighten the screw so they cannot be unscrewed.

If your interested?

They CAN be unscrewed! I had these and some little basted had 'em.  s:evil:  s:evil:  Now I have nice black plastic ones, but as my wheels are so dark, it's ok.  s:wink:  s:wink:

Fairy nuff!.

Well you can always get them, then claim an new set as they say they are anti theft.

Maybe you didnt screw them in hard enough   s:P :P s:P

T'were screwed in tight, but the scrotes don't care if they damage your valve stems and so can manage to twist them off. Afterall, it's only a grub screw tightened onto the valve stem screw thread. Now, if the valve stems had a slight recess to accomodate the grub screw...

Why not just get these from The USA. Inner core is black plastic with a aluminium outer core. They're just like mini wheel locking nuts.

I can highly recommend them and at under £4 including delivery.... they're a steal. Make sure you find the discount section to get the bargain.

Wow!  s:shock:  s:shock:  They look excellent! I've just ordered two sets (one for a mate). Who cares if my wheels are dark – they'll match the locking wheel nuts!

now they doo look the doggies doo-dah's

weve just had an interesting one at work, they've just installed dust caps that you don't remove to top the wheels up with air, they have a tiny push in section on the end that seals flush. Good idea i thought
