I got it from Performance & Protection. See Tims 2zz thread for pics of his, we both  ordered one (although mine isn't red)  s:) :) s:)

It looks really impressive in those photos, would like one myself but still want to be able to use the soft top and I think the only roll over bar I've seen that allows that is the hard dog one from the US.

Same as me, I'm close to just getting the hard dog one.

I can understand  that.

The hard dog is a nice bit of kit it must be said, but these cars are very difficult to fit a cage to, there isn't a a "perfect" solution like the mx5s which are far easier to accommodate!

Yes it is a shame. Is the cage from Performance and Protection an 'off the shelf' one that they build for you but have sold the same design previously or is it more of a custom one that they build to your spec?

Anonymous

#405
Performance and protection are the manufacturer of the cages fitted to many of the mr2 championship cars.

What Tim found, and kindly let me know, is effectively just the rear section of that cage. It is also upgradeable to the full cage later on buy purchasing the front section, as the mounting points are there to bolt it together.

Is it is an "off the shelf" design, but specifically made to order...if that makes sense!  s:) :) s:)

That siad if you wanted to customise it I would think they would be willing to hear your ideas, they seem like a friendly, flexible company to be honest. They make custom cages for all types of cars

Had the morning off work to receive a delivery this morning so got the car out and did a bit more work;

Rear TTE ARB now fitted with Superpro bushes and new clamps (the bushes are too big for the standard clamp)

You can also see my newly acquired BC coilovers and ROC drop links.

I then started stripping the doors out; speakers, tweeters and cross overs removed

These were infinity reference I fitted a few years ago when we first got the car, so they will be for sale along with other stuff removed shortly.

Then I started stripping out the centre console of headunit and ash tray etc.

Then, as I was packing up, my delivery arrived, so I could resist checking it out :

Love it! So pleased with the quality. Massive thanks to Tim3 for doing the leg work, really owe him one.

Just need to get it welded up now!

Still to do;

- Mount front TTE Arb (need new clamps)

- Hopefully get on the group buy for the Wilwood brakes . If not, new disks and pads all round.

- Fit cage

- make new centre console

- install oil gauges

-  relocate new smaller battery to the Frunk

I'm not planning any track days untill at least June / July because of this work and holidays but will be worth the wait  s:D :D s:D

Looking good mark.
Seriously jealous of the roc links.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Coming on really well. Really like the half cage, it looks well very made, what sort of weight is it?

Anonymous

#413
It's not very heavy actually, I was surprised. Not sure on exact weight but I easily lifted and positioned onto the car myself.

Looking good Mark! Suspension upgrade should be great, I didn't realise you had adjustable rear arms as well. Where did you get those from?

Cage weighs 17.1kg by the way! Also have you noticed the little tabs welded on the main hoop, I didn't ask for those, but think they are for running standard belts? What do you reckon?
2001 MR2 Roadster - Cusco front strut brace, Chico Racing shift bushes, soft top delete, 2ZZ-GE, Eliseparts sump, 6 speed box, 4.529 final drive, LSD, custom induction, Zorstec 4-1 manifold, 100cel cat, P&P full cage, RRS 6 points, Cobra Imolas, BC Coilovers (5/7) BattleVersion rear arms, polybushed front arms, poly windows, gutted doors and dash.

I bought the arms from someone on here actually. They were new and boxed. I only got them because my old arms were siezed and couldn't do any adjustment, then while trying to free them noticed my subframe was corroded...so went the whole hog...as you do  s:) :) s:)

I noticed the tabs, I wondered what they were for. Now you say it that does make sense, nice touch if so!

So I need to lose an additional 17kg from the car? All the audio equipment must way a bit, the plastic trays I had previously left in place and maybe the lightweight battery....that should do it  s:) :) s:)

Not sure you can get TTE ard anymore saw some on ebay a few months ago,
Whitline seem to be the easiest option.
You can source TRD from Japan or go with Syderchat who are having some custom made but will be expensive by the time you factor in shipping and tax

That's correct, I got lucky and got a new unused set from a member on here.

The bushes and clamps cost more than expected, probably about £75.

If doing it again I would just buy whiteline and be done with it.
