Quote from: "jaworjawor"I relocated battery to front, used 34Ah battery, but found 22 mm2 section cable too thin, tha car had problems starting. Then I added another 30 mm2 wire (together 52 mm2) and car starts just fine. The lenght of the cable was about 4,3m
Oh! Might have a problem then!

I'm using 25mm2 cable and around 5m in total.

Will find out soon I guess  s:( :( s:(

Thanks for the heads up

Just for referance I've driven a couple 2zz converted cars with ebay manifold and 1 with the expensive one from MWR and the difference is night and day.... The ebay one strangles the engine so much its unreal

Look forward to seeing your zero one dude   s:) :) s:)   Have you got the donor car yet?

You aren't the first to say that so it fills me with a bit of confidence I didn't waste money!

Planning on a lightened flywheel too, as recommended, makes a good feel to the engine.

I'm trying to secure the stuff I need at the moment Vinny  s:) :) s:)

Brake kit arrived today. All seems good!

Next day delivery from freaky parts, who have also supplied matching rear discs and yellow stuff pads for me. Well pleased.

Will get pics when unpacking / fitting  s:) :) s:)

Nice one get them fitted need to know what you think
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm calling bull on that. Driving 2 different cars means nothing and even if you drove the same car back to back with both manifolds you wouldn't notice the difference a couple of horse power would make anyway.

The design is the same and that's where the issue is. The ebay manifold is the same internal diameter as the standard 2zz manifold. There is no problem there, It's the 4-1 design of the PPE and stock 2zz manifold that make the difference coupled with the bore of the MR2 down pipe and the rest of the exhaust system not being large enough. I can measure and take photos of the standard Celica set up so you can see the difference.

Lol. You can call whatever you like boyo

This is someone's build thread, not a place for discussing opinions.. I gave my opinion based on my experiances which have included back to back tests. You don't know me, my background or have shared my experiances..  If youve had different experiances then that is fine just give your opinion instead of rambling on about someone else's   s:wink:  s:wink:

As Surrey rolling road is round the corner I may just take my car there with the 2zz installed and see what happens

I have to say I disagree with all of this, what escy wrote is based on simple fact and the truth is the zero manifold is extremely unlikely to offer any power gains over the ebay manifold because its the same flawed design. This may be someones build thread but that doesn't mean that the only discussion to be had here should be reinforcing the decisions the op's made, that just leads to false information being banded around the forum.
You haven't posted up any fact here, so unless you're willing to provide some actual details of these back to back tests then I'm afraid escy is right, it's bull.

Seems to me that there are 2 types of manifold, the good ppe/ppe copy in the group buy and the other bad aftermarket options which all suffer the same issue, only difference being the price.

There are other issues with the ebay manifold.
Let's not forget ESCY has vested interest in saying the ebay one is good seeing as he sells cars with them fitted  s;) ;) s;)

Shall we move all this talk to the 2zz discussion?

No buddy I haven't. Is it a bit of a let down?

Because of noise regs the dyno is now sealed in, the only vent they have is one blower (about 20inches wide) which blows cold air behind the fan they have but personally I don't think its enough! I had intake temps of 62 degrees C when I had my gt4 on their dyno. I know someone with an rx7 who had 70 in there to!

A vested interest? Hardly, they don't cut the mustard from a performance point of view and I said as much to the last person I sold a 2ZZ car to.  I do think the ebay manifold is great for the money as they are only £120 and as it's the only aftermarket hardware you need to fit a 2ZZ into a MR2 you have a cheap option (you initially said there isn't a cheap option). What's the other issues with them?

As far as I see it, there are 3 options for the MR2 manifold and system. Buy a cheap ebay one, use the standard exhaust set-up and be happy to accept the 175bhp you end up with (same you'll get with the MWR and Zero). If you can justify the extra £800 to get a PPE style system for the extra 15bhp then great, go for that.  The other option is adapt the Corolla/Celica 2ZZ system and make your own going over the subframe (that's the way i'd be going on a track car).

You know i'm right as you've just spent £460 on a Zero manifold and yesterday looked into getting a PPE style one from the group buy.

I haven't spent anything on the manifold yet, and the reason I asked is because I want an exhaust system (not manifold) which will pass an mot, mine has no cat.

If you must know, I thought if I could have got one of those systems for a reasonable price I would have done but it looks like I'll have to spend money on my current system to have a cat welded in.

But thanks for telling me what I'm thinking, you are clearly a genius.

Well plenty of opinions there about a manifold, I guess Meerk will just have to go with his gut feelings.
Mind comparing a zero manifold with an eBay is pretty odd seeing as the zero is equal length and knife edge joins internally. Better than anything from mwr but probably not as optimal as a PPE.

When you chaps say "Zero" manifold, which one are you talking about? I need one for my swap, but refuse to use PPE based on previous experience with them.

Yes sorry, Zero is a company who has been producing some rather nice manifolds, I didn't know he had produced a 2zz manifold but it wouldn't take much for him to do it with his experience.

If you order from Zero it would be worth double checking that he doesn't weld in the o2 sensor bosses as he does on the 1zz manifold.
