Quote from: "Meeerrrk"Great stuff! Amazing what you've achieved.

What's next?

Think that's it for now, going to properly finish everything...
Fit afr gauge it's one of those touch screen plx ones.
Play with tuning and boost controller
I've got a greddy bov which I may or may not fit
Stick some bits on the for sale section, that I've taken off after only buying a month ago!
Spoiler needs repainting or might put the tte style one back on, will look tomorrow and decide
Rear bumper needs properly polishing,
Need to spray and fit the jdl side vents
Got some jaguar xkr bonnet vents to fit then respray whole bonnet( it got stone chips) as I think my spraying is getting good enough,
Refit Impreza rear diffuser.
Properly clean and polish the whole car including engine bay.
And ermmm that's probably it for this year.... Maybe   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

I thought I would be pushing it anymore than it is, probably pushing the clutch too

Wideband afr fitted.
Fitted it into the glove box,  it's low profile so doesn't go all the way though... There is a space that it sits nicely in and duck taped the cables into the corners on the inside..  nice tidy job.
decided there because I wanted to see it from passenger seat if I need to sit and map.. also didn't want anymore pods stuck on the dash... and also the glove box is easily replaceable if I take it out.
And I think it looks good there.

Looks good, I have my ks3 there. Let me know how the afr goes, need to get a wideband myself

Really pleased with the wideband, it's readings are so smooth.. No jumping up and down, you can really see what's happening under different loads.

Put the boost controller back in, even wound right down it kicks the turbo in hard so it's an instant 8psi, put on a higher fueling map but the engine was pinging with wot,   the afr was good... About 11.5 with wot and full boost so I assume the injectors were keeping up.. Following the map at that point it was pinging The timing was back 7 degrees so I assume it needed to come back some more..
Logged the run so will check it when I find something to read it with (not found a log program yet)..
But I'm not clever enough with knock and timing so took the boost controller out and it runs happy at 5-6psi, it creeps so if I give it some it boosts at 6 ish

11.5 not fantastic for me that would be on the lean side, at wot I would expect 12.5 - 13

I thought the lower numbers were richer?
11.5 parts air to 1 part fuel...

Cheers Richard, according to that my afr was good, so must be my timing, need to pull it back some more... Think I will just enjoy it for a while before I blow it up.. I will leave it as it is for now
I've had an overload of information this week trying to learn about mapping... And tomorrow I'm continuing my nebosh health and safety course (yawn!).. So my head will explode soon..

Fitted afr and cleaned the inside of the car today so one and a half jobs are knocked off my list...

My mate took me out in his chimaera 500 this evening.. First time I've been in it, that's the first time I've been truly scared in a car.. And not from his driving, from the ridiculous amount of power!

Jaguar xkr bonnet vents... serve no purpose at all. But I like them.
Will be blue later when I can be bothered to spray the bonnet.

Little update. ...

just been tidying up a few bits lately.
also resprayed and refitted the gt spoiler.
fitted greddy bov
Changed the spark plugs for ngk iridium
Ordered a little ally manifold thing to tidy up the little boost pipes
need to give the engine bay a real good clean

Ordered a clutch
ordered a charge cooler kit
sorting injectors and fuel regulator
Then Remap to suit new stuff at 10-11psi boost.

Then maybe take the car for a proper map as there is not much more I can do without forging the engine.

Few pics

I'm going to leeds castle car show with a few friends on the 17th May if anyone is going, but don't laugh as I am the poor one
I will be going with 2 Ferrari's a porsche and a TVR... eerrmmm and my mr2

Fitted some injectors today...

I stole stupink's idea of using Astra vxr 470cc injectors, picked a set up for 100 quid, found some Bosch plugs at a local scrappy for 4 quid,
Soldered on the plugs, butchered the injectors to fit the mr2 fuel rail, covered my engine in petrol, thought it would be a good idea to fit new orings, found the oring box at work, tried again, everything perfect.
Adjusted the emanage to suit, the engine does not cough at high revs now, pulled back my timing a little to reduce the torque as my clutch is somewhere on the back of a donkey between here and America, the clutch is a lot happier with the timing pulled back.

Thanks stupink for the injector idea., I got some rc440's from viets but they were too fat.

Oh and had some of that hydrofilm stuff delivered today so might have a go with it later. Got some carbon for my side vents and interior bits and a blue flame design for my engine cover plastic bit and fuse box covers etc...

Interested to see the hydro dipping.

Any plans to rolling road the car?

Leethesparky

#220
Going to have a play with the hydrodip stuff today. Will clear coat it tomorrow so if it's any good will take some pics..

Will be fitting a clutch and charge cooler next weekend then turning up the boost to around 10-11psi, so in theory I will be up to the max that the engine can take. It is the perfect time to get a proper map, but I may just get it dyno'd to see what power I've achieved then put my money into the next engine for my winter project.. My engine will not last forever as its using oil, that's why I didn't mind pushing it as I already knew it would need replacing.
Mmmmm, low compression 1zz or put my turbo on a 2zz........but for the rest of this year it will stay as it is.

Hydrodipping..... It is not as easy as it looks on YouTube. .

After about 10 fails here are a few bit I managed to do, not perfect but acceptable ... getting the hang of it, so will do some more bits later, and get a normal carbon colour so I can do my side vents.
And interior bits. The gold is a bit bling but goes well against the blue of the car.

Everything! It does not go right if you do anything slightly wrong
the water has to be perfect temp, it has to be left exactly the right amount of time, exactly the right amount of activator, contained so it doesn't just expand and disperse.
Takes some practice but it's possible to do at home.
