Can't believe how fast it's suddenly coming along! You must be very excited after all the planning. Do you have a date in mind for a "first drive"?

How are you fitting your harnesses? Shoulder straps around the cage and laps straps to the seat mount? Or are you going to get Patrick to weld in some eyelet spreader plate?

Hi Ed how's things with you? How's your car coming along?

Not sure on the first drive, because it's got an MOT now I can drive it home which is about 110miles so that will be fun, so hopefully in the next week or two! Very excited  s:D :D s:D

Yes, the roll hoop has the harness bar incorporated, and the lap belts are on the seat mounts. Hadn't considered having eyelets put in the floor, but now you mention it that probably would have been better. I can do it in the future I suppose.

make sure to put some kind of coil cover on unless the car will always be run and stored dry.

I didnt after I first did my swap and water collects on top of the coils. you can pick up the lotus ones from dealers for about £20.

Paul do you have a pic of the cover fitted on the 2zz in the mr2 please?

It's getting there thanks Mark - spent the last month or so stripping everything out, and taking a road-trip up to Rogue to pick up a full cage all all the other goodies. Just finished stripping back the seam-sealer etc (horrible job!) so hopefully getting the cage feet welded in this week! I was wondering whether it was worth getting harness points put in at the same time...

Enjoy the 2ZZ drive home - hope to see you on track very shortly!

From when I was designing the cage for our 200SX I seem to remember that according to FIA rules harnesses are not allowed to mount to the seat frame; obviously for the road you won't fail an MOT for it since this isn't a check point, but it's worth considering that the FIA think it's better to spread the load to another mount location, rather than further stress the seat fastenings. Probably in 99% of accidents you won't need the extra capacity, but if you can use the OE lap belt points there's no harm in this!

I guess the studs aren't long enough? So add the stand offs and screw onto those instead?

Haven't got any planned...basically because lack of money after the money I'm spending on the car  s:-( :-( s:-(

If we can get a few people together for a visit to brands or similar then I'll join in, Dasilver with his k-swap car is keen, hopefully we can get a few more and make a day / afternoon of it.

Well somehow we need to find tomaky a turbo asap. I have two friends up for a track day any time. Audi TT 3.2 and a lotus elise s1. Plus me, plus mark, plus a couple of people from the forum. That's over six. Maybe I will have a look for half day brands times.
