Less posting here and more work you.
Go on get on with it.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Fear not Scotte boy, Patrick's been busy getting everything ready in advance for me, so the engine is all refreshed, sump on, fly wheel and clutch done, and gearbox work all done, wiring loom made and fitted. So it's ready to "simply drop in" ... Ok maybe it's a little more complex than that, but you know what I mean!

Plus we've all got to keep the better halves happy or we won't be allowed to play with our cars anymore  s:D :D s:D

Don't see myself having a problem playing with the car.
It's when i want to "play" with other things that there could be a problem.  s;) ;) s;)

I always put MR2's backwards on the trailers, most trailers are set-up for front engined cars so for proper weight distribution I reverse them on

Interesting you should say that.

I originally thought the same, so we tested it out and there was plenty of nose weight with it on front ways.

Another member on here also tested it recently after we were talking about it, and found the optimum nose weight with the Mr2 on front ways.

To be honest I wouldn't have wanted more nose weight - if you look at the load on my e91's rear suspension.

Im no expert, I guess it depends on the trailer too, this one was massive and if you look, most of the car is well I front of the trailer's axle.

First time I put a car on a trailer was a catastrophe. The trailer was higher than yours, the car was lower than yours and I didn't realise that I should of attached the trailer to the towing car before loading the passenger car.  s:oops:  s:oops:
Makes for an interesting anecdote when fully told though.  s:lol:  s:lol:

Looking again at that trailer it does seem very long from the wheels to the hitch,

When I fetched my MR2 we used a converted caravan trailer & had to borrow some ramps which weren't really long enough so we had to unhitch the trailer from the car to allow the front of the trailer to go up in the air so the MR2 didn't bottom out on the ramp/trailer join. Then we had to balance the MR2 on the trailer so the front came down gentle to be able to attach it again to the back of the tow car, all good fun.

I did a similar thing with my old locost on a converted chassis trailer...lesson learnt, keep to good quality (and low) trailers!

Patrick's been a busy boy, he's really helped me out getting the car on the road again.

He has very kindly installed the rear roll hoop/ cage .. Which I hear was a bit of a PITA (sorry!)

Next up he modified my exhaust to house a 200cell CAT and modified it to sit higher as clearance with the coilovers was a bit of a worry. It's now very neatly tucked up behind the bumper!

Then took to his local MOT centre and got the car an MOT....no advisories  s:D :D s:D  very happy!

Next on his list is ripping that 1zz out and fitting the 2zz... TBC!...

Looking good Mark! Can you elaborate as why the rear hoop was a pain to fit?

Rear cage it was the feet you have to weld in  place to make them nice and tight to body drill out 20mm holes so captives drop in to then getting a nice gap so  you can get a nice weld in there instead of a load of old rubbish as this is a strength part it needed some nice heavy welds in there . Just took longer then I planned for . But yay it's in there  :-) :-) :-)  .

Had a call and chat with Patrick yesterday, he has been cracking on with the swap! Can't believe how quickly things move!

Engine and box with everything on ready to go up

Some time later ...

Nice sump  s:) :) s:)

Next up the plumbing to do and wiring etc, then it can be started  s:) :) s:)

Great work so far I'm sure you'll agree!

make sure to put some kind of coil cover on unless the car will always be run and stored dry.

I didnt after I first did my swap and water collects on top of the coils. you can pick up the lotus ones from dealers for about £20.

I also had that problem. Don't think it's an issue if you use the car daily but if it's sitting it can be.

Hadn't thought of that. I can't guarantee the car  won't be used in the rain but it is stored in my garage 90% of the time so storage isn't an issue.

Think I'll find a cover of some sort .. Thanks
