Hey,
I am looking for new set of tires. The stock sizes are 185/55/15 at front and 215/45/16 at rear. I think about getting Toyo t1r with 195/50/15 at front and 215/40/16 at rear. What do you think about that setup? Will it work? Any of you tested it? It would be fitted on stock wheels. I know the numbers. The front will be lower by 0.3'' and rear will also be lower by 0,8''. What do you think about that? Generally I prefer not to change things like that, because engineers in Toyota are smarter than I am, but I really like t1r's, had it on 2 previous cars, they are cheap and fun to drive on. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Cheers.

Tyre size is fine.
Tyre choice is ok.
I have run T1R and thought they were good until i tried AD08R and realised how much difference a proper performance tyre makes.
Falkan 914 are a good budget choice too.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Thank you very much for your answer. AD08R are way more expensive, and TBH I would like to get something cheap to use on roads, and on track days, just to learn basics. The next step is some nice semi-slicks, and I concider AD08R, but not just yet.

+1 to the falkens
Very happy when i had mine. But bit the bullet and went ado8r. They cost more, but they are a superior tyre.

Remember the car will only be lowered by half the change of tyre diameter so you will be 0.15" lower at the front and 0.4" lower at the rear.
The smaller rear diameter will lower the gearing slightly but that's no bad thing in my opinion.
Silver 2004 MR2 -  Unmodified but very shiny.

We run those sizes in the tr1's on kates daily driver. No issues at all. AD08R's on my toy though!
New little car to follow soon

Ex 2zz by Rogue. Se7en cams. BMC CDA. Competion clutches lightened flywheel, Megillian Racing Exhaust. TRD sportivo suspension and ARB\'s. TRD braces. TRD quick shift. TRD dash kit, Matts brace. Getting there but not sure when it will stop!

I started to read about Falken's and they seem really ok. The big positive for me is that I can buy it in stock size, so maybe it is right step for me now. Anyone compared this 2 tires? Toyo t1r vs Falken 914?

Personally have not ran t1r.
Choose falks ad come in correct size. Only varition to stock is the higher load rating on the fronts.

Where do you guys get your tyres from usually? Oddly I have some Falken 914 tyres on my daily drive Fiesta, terrible tyres vs the Toyo CF2 I had a well, but then again it might be in a different size they are ok.

Blackcircles is who i usually use.
Mainly because it makes fitting easy.

People like ATS and Kwikfit abuse you if you just turn up but booking online they can be competative.

Just looking at a local tyre fitting place, to get a matching set I would need to go with the Falken ZE-914 tyres as they don't do the T1-Rs in the stock rear size it seems? Need to get some new rear tyres pretty soon, the fronts are fine but aren't a good make so ideally I would like a matching set of tyres!

Hmm might go with Toyo CF2 tyres all round, anyone run with them on here? Looks like Black circles do both front and rear in FL sizes.

On the subject of sourcing tyres.
AS bizarre as it may sound. (I thought it did) when my dad told me.
Asdatyres.
I never even knew.
But best price I could find when I shod the golf in rainsports.
Bear in mind it's an all in price. Delivery, fit, valve, balance and dispose.

I have run T1r for the last 6 years  with facelift wheels. I use 225 x 40x 16 on the rears. Gives a bit more grip as long as you up the pressure to offset the softer sidewalls.  I run 28psi front and 38 rear.
Great tyre for the 2 but will only get about 12000 miles on the back.
Have just ordered a pair of 225''s from Tirendo. com at £66 each delivered. They come from Germany. Got them in 3 days. Have local fitting partners too.
W. Red. Black leather. Facelift wheels.Toyo T1R. Pre-cats removed. Matts TTE style chassis brace. 2003 facelift front brace, FK lowering springs, Dev keyhole covers, tte rear grille. Tanabe G-Power Medalion exhaust, JSpec nose badge, mongo's, front strut brace. Matt perf engine rebuild May 2014.

Just looking at matching set tyres for easily available sizes, would it be best for me to run the Toyo CF2 all round or the Falken ZE-914 all round? The Falkens are an XL so they are reinforced, tempted to go with the Toyo CF2 though.

Saying that I have found I can get a matching set of Toyo T1-Rs on Camskill, 2x 185/55/15 and 2x 215/45/16 comes to just over £200 delivered, need to check where I could get them fitted though.

Or should I go with 195/50/15 and 225/40/16 as the upgraded sizes?

After looking at some reviews on tyre reviews between the CF2 and the Falken 914 I am going with the CF2 as they are rated slightly better in most categories and I know I felt a difference in going to them on a previous car, am going with the stock sizes of 215/45/16 will look to replace the front at some point soon as well.

Yes, I will let you guys know, what I think about Falken's after testing it on road and on track. You could write your opinin about Toyo as well, it can be helpful for other people  s;) ;) s;)

From memory.
Think the falks were only XL on the fronts but not the rear.
Anybody compare the asda fitted price to the delivery and sort your own out.

Drove in some torrential rain on the mway lots of standing water. The falks shifted it. Huge rooster tails in the mirrors.  Glad i wasnt following myself, as it were.

I fitted the same tyres onto my Mercedes estate, the XL or extra load is great for heavy cars, went with the Toyos as they had a slightly quieter rating and should be lighter as they aren't designed for heavier cars lol

Been a while, but seriously wondering if falken or stockists have changed their options
could not find falken 215/45/16 on camskill or asda.

Having checked my records def non XL on the rears I bought.

Both sizes still listed on the Falken website.

think i'm going to give the falkens a go for my FL, i used the toyos before on my mx5 and did like them in the dry but thought they were poor in the wet.
